I Live Simply Movement

A global movement initiated from the trans-Himalayas of Ladakh by environmentalist, educationist and innovator, Shri Sonam Wangchuk. The initiative aims to inspire people across the world, to adopt a ‘simple’ and ‘sustainable’ lifestyle, in order to reduce their carbon footprints and thus contribute in building a sustainable future.

The movement has firm belief in the fact that changing individual behaviour is as important as politics and policies, when it comes to addressing the climate emergency.

DIYA DELHI took pledges to contribute in this global movement. The occasion was YUVA ABHYUDAY 2020 – the annual flagship event for Youth Empowerment, organized by DIYA DELHI, wherein Shri Sonam Wangchuk was the Chief Guest.

DIYA Delhi via its environmental and social initiatives, has already been making a resonating impact at the cutting-edge level. Be it the non-stop weekly tree plantation drives as part of Project Hariyali, which has completed more than 100 weeks or the ‘Thought Revolution Movement’ to inculcate the values of ‘sustainability’ and ‘simplicity’, DIYA Delhi has been at the forefront of supporting and contributing for such noble initiatives.

During YUVA ABHYUDAY 2021, in presence of Shri Sonam Wangchuk, Team DIYA Delhi took pledges to upscale and intensify its social projects and initiatives in near future, to help contribute in ‘I live simply movement’.

Apart from this, thousands of participants who attended the event in offline and online modes, took pledges to ‘live simply’ so that ‘others may simply live’.

Today, when global warming and climate change presents a daunting challenge for humanity, the movement provides a beacon light of hope for people across the world, to come forward and contribute in making Earth a safe, green, happy and vibrant place to live in.
